After watching the winter Olympics, D really missed skiing. Since J was extra busy at work and her knee still wasn't back to 100%, only D went to Utah for his family ski trip.
We thought we'd try something different this year to celebrate Valentine's Day. Rather than go out or take out, we decided to cook our own dinner. While the food turned out delicious, it was kind of a lot of work... especially on a Friday evening, after a long week of work. We're definitely doing take-out next year!
Steak, lobster, and Shrimp kabob. Probably should have taken a picture before we started.
It's now our annual tradition to volunteer with TMOM - Texas Mission of Mercy. This year, the event was held in Houston, at the newly constructed UT Dental school. Since J has only volunteered at high school gyms or classrooms before, she wasn't expecting state of the art equipment! We had a fun day extracting teeth, filling cavities, and even made some new friends.
The entire Dernick family got together for Christmas this year, so we had many fun filled events. Christmas morning is always more exciting when there are kids around. We saw many super heroes and princesses and then spent the rest of the day hanging out. We also had our first re-enactment of the nativity story... what a fun tradition to begin!
We spent Thanksgiving Day with the Kongs and just a few (50+) other family friends. Once again we were in charge of the 'American' foods... and we took our job very seriously!
After years of waiting and searching and waiting some more, D finally found the perfect opportunity to buy a practice. It all fell into place and we are so blessed everything worked out the way it did. First item of business... a group christmas card to introduce D to everyone.
We had our third annual Inner Loop Group reunion at Memorial Park again. Since most have moved to the suburbs and no longer live inside the loop, this is one of the few times we actually get to see each other to catch up. We missed those who no longer live in Houston anymore and hope we'll one day have a reunion with everyone!
